About

Dallas Spires

Husband, father, writer, and so much more.

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by.

Come, sit for a spell, and let’s listen. Let’s listen to the river’s murmuring waters as they rush by. Let us hear the birds chirping overhead in the trees, the small things at our feet burrowing in the leaves. Hear the traffic on the highway passing nearby and the wailing song of a train off somewhere in the distance, possibly even another place or time.

It is said that here, the past hangs heavy in the air. Even those who are deaf to the voices on the breeze can feel the weight of history all around them. It is present everywhere you look — from street names to architecture; from the statues standing downtown to those guarding the dearly departed.

From the streets paved in brick to those paved in soul; from the trees watching it all from the woods to the forgotten headstones jutting up to remind weary travelers of those who came before; from the vibrant sounds of a world rich with life to the footsteps of the unseen soul behind you; the stories live on, if you but take the time to listen.

That being said, my friend, you’re liable to read a lot more than a handful of ghost stories here. When I say Neither Here Nor There and call this the Space Between, I simply mean this is a place to share whatever inspires me to put words to the page. Below, you’ll find links to help you skip around the bits you don’t care to read.

Now that introductions have been made, shall we?
